Client

Small independent auto repair workshop, Hungary

Specializing in:

• Car body repair

• Car painting

• General auto mechanic services

Two experts — one bodywork & paint master + one mechanic with racing-experience.

Plus: their playful “boss,” Ragacs the cat.

Overview

The goal was to create a modern, trustworthy website that reflects both professional skill and the friendly personality of the workshop.

The design had to:

Clearly present services

Build trust with qualifications & experience

Show real workshop results through a gallery

Make contacting them quick and simple

Include lighthearted storytelling (workshop cat)

Objectives

Strengthen online presence and credibility

Help customers easily request quotes or repair appointments

Organize services so customers immediately understand the offering

Differentiate the workshop from big corporate competitors

Design Strategy

The visual style blends dark, sleek automotive aesthetics with highlight lighting inspired by metallic reflections and workshop environments.

Tone: Professional & reliable — with warm, friendly personality

Brand elements: clean UI, mechanical iconography, subtle gradients

Color palette: deep blacks, steel blues, purple accents

Typography: modern, bold type to reflect strength and precision

Fun Element: Ragacs the Cat — featured as the “CEO” to support a welcoming tone

Structure & UX

The experience is built to guide visitors efficiently:

Outcome

The final website delivers a clean, modern, and trustworthy digital presence for the workshop. Although the first design version in Figma felt promising, it didn’t translate well when rebuilt in Framer — the layout felt heavier and didn’t reflect the workshop’s personality.

I redesigned the site with a simpler structure, improved spacing, and subtle animations. The new version feels lighter, more intuitive, and more aligned with the team’s friendly yet professional identity.

The result is a website that clearly presents services, builds trust, and brings the workshop’s character — including Ragacs, the “boss cat” — to life.

Reflection & Learnings

This project helped me grow in multiple areas — both in design craft and in client collaboration:

Designing for non-tech audiences
I learned how important it is to communicate services clearly and avoid jargon, especially for users who may feel stressed or unsure about car repairs.

Balancing professionalism with personality
Adding a friendly tone and including the workshop’s cat “Ragacs” as the humorous “boss” helped create trust and approachability without sacrificing credibility.

Real-world hierarchy and trust building
I focused heavily on clarity: strong CTAs, recognizable service icons, and well-structured lists so users can quickly find what they care about most — reliability, quality, and expertise.

Photography & brand consistency
Working with real workshop imagery pushed me to enhance lighting and color grading for a clean, modern look that still feels authentic to the environment.

Accessibility and readability
I strengthened text contrast, icon clarity, and responsive layouts to ensure all users — across devices and ages — can interact comfortably with the site.

This project reminded me how design can make even a small local business feel confident, trustworthy, and modern — creating a bridge between skilled hands-on work and polished digital presence.
